Chocolates are something you associate with Switzerland & Belgium for the premium products they produce, or with Ghana for the best cocoa beans they grow. However, rarely are the words chocolate and India said in the same breath. Even rarer perhaps, is the association of the word chocolate with a town surrounded by hills that is Satara, located in Maharashtra.

Yet the quiet outskirts of this historical town, produces some of the best chocolates in the world. Raghuleela Innovative Technology (R & D) Pvt. Ltd. is a small setup with world class facilities, standards and cleanliness. It remains one of the best kept secrets within the district. But what is known to everyone are the products they produce. Providing food related solutions to large MNCs across a dozen countries. Although the organisation has its fingers in many jars, its mainstay has remained the cocoa-based delicacy.

What is most peculiar about the production of these world class products are the people behind it. Most of our workers on the floor are underprivileged women more nearby villages. Previously, their identity was defined by titles such as housewife, farm hand, maid and what not. Not to say that any of these jobs are derogatory in any way. But it does make it difficult to earn the respect of society with such labels hovering over their heads. These women had huge amounts of untapped potential waiting for an opportunity to find its release.

We found ourselves at the right place at the right time to utilise the talents and abilities of these women. With their willingness to learn and good grasping ability, we could transform them into invaluable resources to the food industry. Today, most of these women know more about food processing techniques and practices than many educated professionals. Due to this, these women, today have a renewed sense of purpose, financial independence, greater amounts of self-respect and admiration from the people surrounding them; serving as a beacon of inspiration to those who find themselves at the margins of society unable to fulfil their potentials.
